Odyssey House

Odyssey House is Grande Prairie’s non-profit Emergency Shelter and Supportive Housing Centre for women and children in need of safety and support. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our services include the emergency shelter, available for women and children in need of short-term emergency accommodation; Serenity Place, an apartment building for women, with or without children, in need of safe, affordable housing and specialized programming; Outreach Community Support which includes various programs and support open to residential and outreach clients, The Family Resource Centre, which provides free childcare for residents and individuals accessing group support; and Public Education, which works to spread awareness and is active in schools, community groups, businesses, and various other community outlets.
The statistics report that one in three youth between the ages of 12 and 17 will experience violence in their relationships. The Odyssey House Public Education Department offers a variety of programs and presentations geared to educate youth around what abusive, unhealthy, and healthy relationships look like.
We believe that prevention is most effective when education happens early and often. As such, all presentations are free of charge and our presentations are designed to begin as early as Grade 3 with relevant information geared towards different age groups. If you have any questions or would like to book a presentation, please contact our Public Education Coordinator through email at edusupport@odysseyhouse.ca
